Bossman

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.

I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.

He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.

So I told him to mind his own damn business—his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business—and went back to my miserable date.

When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.

I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.

When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.

But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.

My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.

I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people?
Then again…

What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

My Review –

Let me get one thing straight, I love VI Keeland’s books. So, loving this book is also not an exception. I’ve read this book few years back and I’ve re-read it recently and I enjoyed it never-the-less.

“Bossman” as the name suggests is a romance between a boss and his employee. Technical when they first meet they did not have an employer-employee relationship. This is such a sexy, witty, funny and amazing book that I couldn’t stop myself from re-reading it.

Reese and Chase first meet in a restaurant when they were both on a date, with different people. And since I don’t want to spoil anything (if you haven’t read this yet, that is), that was the best part of the book for me. No matter how many times I think about it, that particular scene still manages to bring a smile on my face.

Reese is a strong, independent woman. She has her own issues. I loved how she was willing to fight her feeling towards Chase so as to not repeat the past mistakes she made.

Chase Parker, owner of the Parker Industry is an Alpha-male. VI Keeland is the queen of writing Alpha-male characters, and I happen to fall in love with each of them. Chase is so charming, sexy and funny that it is difficult not wanting to read more and more about him. And on top of that personality like his is what I want the male characters in the books I read. He does have some baggage but that makes him well, him.

The story continues and they meet again after some time. Reese happens to need a job and Chase helps her find one. And he has no clue that she is hired by his own company. Hence, begins their journey of challenges, temptations and love.

The tension and chemistry between Chase and Reese is evident from the very beginning. The way they describe each other when they meet for the first time proves it. I love it when there is chemistry and attraction between the leads from the very first. And what can I say about their banter, it was just soo entertaining.

One thing that I really liked was the dynamic of their relationship. I agree that they had an instant attraction but they also wanted to know each other first. They wanted to connect with each other emotionally too and build a relationship. This is a sort of relationship that I want to see in books. I really like when the characters try to form a bond, other than just physical.

I really, really enjoyed this book. And I would want everybody to read it because trust me you will love Chase and Reese.

My Review –

When I read the synopsis, I definitely wanted to read this book because- sports romance!! And when I started reading it, all I could think of was how cute those two were together.

The story is about Hunter and Rochelle and how amongst all the chaos and difficulties they are facing they still find happiness and peace with each other.

Hunter and Rochelle fall in love at first sight. Hunter is then hell bent on pursuing her which she initially refuses due to her insecurities. Hunter was so sure about Rochelle, his Angel, that he did not step back even after she wanted nothing to do with him. I think that was very sweet yet brave of him.

Hunter is a sport person and like any other player he wants to make it big. But he has issues back at home. He is an orphan and has been staying with his father’s best friend ever since, who wants him to take over his business. And that is not what Hunter wants for himself.

Rochelle, on the other hand, has so much on her plate. Her father is no more and her mother is an addict. She has to fend for herself while taking care of all the bills and looking after her mother. And among all the other things she has tons of insecurities regarding her financial status and men in general.

These two come from different world altogether. But I think they were good for each other. They wanted the other person to be happy even if they have to stay apart, which is actually what love is all about.

Coming to the twist the book had, frankly, it wasn’t something expected but nor was it bizarre. It was a little surprising though.

The story was well written. It was interesting to watch the plot unfold and see all the things getting into place. This was actually a very good read and I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Knight in Shining Suit

Sometimes, getting over pain and betrayal means Getting Up, Getting Even and Getting a Better Man.

Astrid has planned out her perfect wedding. That is before she found out that her fiancé, Bryan, is cheating on her with her cousin-slash-best-friend-slash-maid-of-honor, Geena. And worse, Bryan got Geena pregnant.

Just when Astrid thought it couldn’t get any worse, she received a wedding invitation telling her that her wedding will happen exactly the way she planned it. Except that she is no longer going to be the bride!

So when her parents urged her to attend the wedding “as family”, she planned the perfect revenge.
She will put on a show for everyone to see. She’ll show them that she moved on with a better man—handsome, smart, rich and crazy about her.

She’s even willing to pay a guy to be her “Knight in Shining Armani”.

Then she met bartender, Ryder. Totally smoking hot and quite a charmer. Astrid thought he was perfect for the job.

He pulled off the role quite well. Soon, her family thinks that Astrid was really with a smoking hot guy who wears Armani suits on a daily basis, drives a luxurious McLaren, and was totally in love with her.

Astrid invented the perfect guy every girl would kill to date, and every ex-boyfriend would hate to be compared with.

Or did she really just invent him?

What if she really did kiss a frog, or tamed a beast?

And that her quest for revenge was just the beginning of her happily ever after?

My Review –

This book made its place into my favorites from the time that I first read it; and I think I might have read it more than four times.

The one and only thing that made me fall in love with this book is Ryder and only Ryder. Ryder was my first book boyfriend ever, and I don’t think I can ever get over him. He is the only thing about this book that encourages me to read it again and again.

“Knight In Shining Suit” is about Ryder and Astrid. Astrid recently found out that her fiancé cheated on her with her cousin/best friend and also got her pregnant. And on top of that her family insists she attends their wedding.

So, to keep her face and save herself from the embarrassment she hires a bartender to be her very rich, smart and swoony pretend fiancé for the night

In the beginning of the story we see how heart-broken and hurt Astrid was after finding out the truth. We see her going through that phase from the beginning to the end, which sort of tells the readers a lot about Astrid.

And then enters Ryder. Oh God !!!! I am sooo in love with Ryder. He was sooo patient with Astrid. He did whatever he could to help her. He came back every week from New York just to have food with her. And she doesn’t even know that.

Ryder was, still is how I would want my boy friend to be. Uggghhhh. He was sooo perfect that each time I read this book; I fall in love with him a little more.

Hes An Absolute Dream Dreamy GIF - HesAnAbsoluteDream Dreamy InLove - Discover & Share GIFs

Astrid comes a long way towards happiness and that happened only because of Ryder. He helped her get out of her misery and do what she wants in life. He supported her in every way he could, even though when she didn’t want his help.

And as promised she came to find him after she was completely healed.

The part where Astrid figures out all the truth and puts two and two together was long awaited by me. And when everything was perfect and everyone was happy another big event happens that separates them.

The ending was very predictable, at least for me. But that didn’t stop me from loving this book what so ever. This was a perfect example of happily ever after, where at the end everything was settled and everyone was happy.

If you are believer in happily ever after and love sweet romance, you will love this. Trust me.

“You, of all people, deserve an ever after, love,” he said to me. “Even if you don’t believe in it, it still believes in you. And someday, it will find you.”

Deacon Malloy’s life is dedicated to the Hell’s Raiders motorcycle club. Tough, hard, and fast with his fists, he serves the group as sergeant at arms. But his devil-may-care approach to life is thrown for a loop when the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed lands on the club steps.

Alexandra Evans is devoted to all her students—but there’s always been something about Willow Malloy that tugs at her heart. There’s an aura of sadness about her, a girl in need of all the love Alexandra can give. When Willow stops coming to school, Alexandra’s search leads to a clubhouse full of bikers…and a father hell-bent on keeping his daughter always within sight.

The moment Deacon sees Alexandra, he has to have her in his bed—and he’s never met a woman yet who couldn’t be persuaded. No matter how attracted she is to Deacon, Alexandra refuses to be just another conquest. But it’s Deacon himself who could be seduced—into a brighter future for himself, his daughter, and the woman he’s falling for against all odds.

My Review –

Since I have started reading motorcycle romances, I find myself wanting to read anything that belongs to this category. This book was published way before and I have only recently picked it up. And I fell in love with each of their stories.

This book is about Deacon and Alexandra. The most important thing in Deacon’s life is the Hell’s Raiders motorcycle club, well until Willow. Willow is Deacon’s five year old daughter who he met only recently.

Alexandra is a teacher. Alexandra and Willow have been very close since the first time the met .So, when she notices that Willow has been missing school for a couple of days she takes it upon herself to find out exactly why.

And hence, she finds herself meeting this motorcycle gang.

Deacon and Alexandra have a bond from the moment they see each other. May I just mention their first meeting was worth mentioning because I found it hilarious? I think Willow plays a special part in bringing them even closer. It was to make Willow happy that they even had the chance to work together to make the five year old happy.

And once they were together, they were just inseparable. They were just too damn cute together.

For me, this book was just not only the romance but their individual relationship with Willow and the rest of the motorcycle club. This would have been a three star for me, but the engagement with the rest of the characters made me love this book even more.

The bond between the Malloy brothers was so strong and pure. They had each other’s back all the damn time. Not only that, they loved Willow so much and accepted Alexandra with open arms. Knowing them in such a short time, they were willing to do anything to protect them.

Rev and willow were soooo adorable. I found myself craving to see more of these two cuties together.

Now, coming to the ending, it was something which I did see coming. I think this was a way to show how Alexandra totally became a part of the club and family.

I really enjoyed reading this book and would totally recommend this book if you haven’t read it yet.

Also, I crushed a little on Rev in this book so I can’t wait to read about him as soon as possible.

Have a secret crush? If they do this, they're probably into you | SHEmazing!

“As he held up a simple purple crayon, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that, no matter what other acts that hand might have been responsible for, I loved Deacon with all my heart.”

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of… lucky.

My Review –

To say that I had high expectations from this book would be an understatement because I love Christina Lauren. I have been their fan since I remember reading novels.

This particular book was published in 2019 and I was yet to catch up with it. And now that I finally did, I straight away jumped to writing down about what I thought of it.

This is about Olive and Ethan and how a single trip changes the whole dynamic of their bond.  And their banter was soo damn good. Olive and Ethan have hated each other since they have known each other. This point is soo visible (if that makes sense, because we cannot actually see them) when Ethan is introduced for the first time in the book by the bridesmaids. It was like just the mention of his name sucked the life out of Olive. The room was literally deadly silent because everyone present knew Olive was going to have a problem.

And this is the moment that starts the journey of banter, wit, fun and love.

So, it was Ami (Olive’s twin sister) and Dane (Ethan’s younger brother)’s wedding. And the whole lot of people even the bride and the groom are affected with ciguatera toxin, everybody except Ethan and Olive. Since Ami and Dane cannot go to their honeymoon in Maui and the tickets are non-refundable Ethan and Olive take their places.

Their plan was simple go to Maui in place of Ami and Dane but have their separate vacation, what could go wrong right? Guess again.

I loved Olive. Like seriously. If in this book the heroine was not Olive, it wouldn’t be half as hilarious as it was. Trust me. Who the hell thinks that they have only bad luck, but considering the events that happened in her life we can’t really blame her, can we? And she rambles when she is nervous. Now throw pretending to be somebody else and then imagine how she will be. If it was not for Ethan they would have to pay a lot for committing fraud.

I liked how Ethan and Olive tried to understand each other and how their relationship developed from there. The thing that I liked the most was the pace of their relationship in the story. It was like something which can totally happen in real life.

Now, there is also one thing which I didn’t expect from this book and that were no explicit scenes at all. I am a romance reader and any book which I pick up has those, even if it is very little. So to see this book not having any explicit scenes left me a tad bit amazed. I didn’t even think about it way after I finished reading.

I loved everything in this book like how witty and funny it was and also the relationship between Ethan and Olive, their family, friends and everything. I would say this book was rather refreshing, you know giving all summery vibes and all. And I loved it.

“She’s candy-sweet at the surface and probably terrible at communicating negative emotions. Meanwhile, I’m like a sour patch kid on the surface, but will happily detail all the ways I think the world is going to hell.”

But the problem with finding each other when taking a break from the real world is they eventually have to return to it. And once reality crashes back in, Eden and Beck realize they don’t exactly live in the same one. Not even close.

My Review –

Before getting into the review, I would like to bring to light that this review is definitely not biased by any sorts and is completely based on my thoughts and opinions of the book. That being clear, let’s get into the review.

Also, I am really glad to have received an arc for this book, because I really really liked this.

“Hurt Me” is about Eden and Becker. Eden is an “up-town girl” whereas Becker comes from the rougher side of life.

Eden comes from a rich family. Her father is a businessman and her elder brother is joining his father in the office. Her happiness lies with helping people and so she does various social works like raising funds. Becker has seen a harsh version of life. He does everything he can to support his family and his little sister, meanwhile studying hard.

Eden and Becker belong to two complete different worlds and yet find solace with each other.

Now, the first part of the story reminds me soo much of “The Unhoneymooners”.  I mean it had that perfect vacationing vibe. It gave out peaceful and positive atmosphere, which is much needed in the recent days.  The first half of the book though made me very giddy and happy for these two, it also made me wonder what problems they will be facing and how they would deal with them.

Coming to the second half of the book, it was definitely not what I had initially thought it to be. This was so realistic, well at least to me, that I found myself connecting with it even more. Now, by realistic I don’t mean problems that every other couple faces but something which people like these two can face when put together.

There were many things which interested me, but one that I kept me waiting was Becker’s mysteriousness. I found Becker to be a little mysterious, mysterious with what he does. Or maybe it was just me who couldn’t figure it out but anyway. So, that was intriguing enough for me.

If the first part was blissful and honeymoony (if that’s even a word), than the second part was definitely a slap to bring back to the reality.

I went into it pretty blindly and I enjoyed this very much.

“You really think I’m crazy?” she asks.

“Nah, baby. I call you that because you’re my crazy.”

“How long do you last in bed?” Those were her first words to me, swiftly followed up with, “And how big would you say you are?”

I walked in on her interview session for potential candidates (who even does that?) and saw straight through her brave front. She’s got a list of Firsts to accomplish like she’s only got months to live. I’ve decided to be her guide for all her firsts except one. Someone’s got to keep her out of trouble. I have one rule, no sex. We even shook on it.

I’ll help her find the right guy for the job. Someone like her doesn’t need someone like me and my massive…baggage for her first time.

Drinking at a bar. Check.

Partying all night. Double check.

Skinny dipping. Triple check.

She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met. The walls I’d put up around my heart are slowly crumbling with each touch that sets fire to my soul.

My Review –

“The Perfect First” is just what its name gives out “Perfect”. It was such an amazing, enjoyable, cute and hilarious book that I will have a hard time getting over it.

The book is about Seph and her list, which she has only a few months to complete. And then enters Reece, who does everything he can to help Seph with her list.

There are a lot of things which I want to discuss about, so let’s get into it.

The most important thing that I have to mention is their first meet. Oh Boy, I was dying out of laughter when they met for the first time. I mean the topic they discuss and the questions asked were something which nobody can see coming (trust me). I have read many books with puns and comedy scenes in them, but nothing had me laughing out loud like this one did. The parts with Seph not knowing about certain things and speaking them in front of people were sooo damn hilarious.

Seph is genius and also a virgin. She doesn’t have many friends, is socially awkward, her roommate hates her and most importantly her life isn’t hers. The first chance she gets to live her life on her own terms she grabs it with both hands, even if it is for a few months.

Enter Reece. He is hell bent on keep all distractions far, far away from him and focuses solely on his career. But, we don’t always get what we want but sometimes we get more. And he got Seph.

These two characters are the complete opposite, yet fit so perfectly together. I cannot imagine the two of them pairing with somebody else. Reece is so supportive and caring towards Seph. I loved them together.

Their romance was on point in here. I mean their chemistry was so so cool. And add comedy with it, it was a masterpiece.

And don’t get me started on Reece’s friend group. They are the best. I loved Brek the most. All of the Fulton U boys were soo friendly and accepting. Their bond with Seph was soo adorable to watch. It was not a kind of forced bond with your friend’s girl, but rather a bond you have with your own friends.

The plot, the setting, and the friends group everything reminded me so much of “The Deal”.

This was actually a power pack book for me with college, sports romance and also a part of companion novels. I loved it straight away.

Dear Ava by Ilsa Madden-Mills

The rich and popular Sharks rule at prestigious, ivy-covered Camden Prep. Once upon a time, I wanted to be part of their world–until they destroyed me.

The last thing I expected was an anonymous love letter from one of them.

Please. I hate every one of those rich jerks for what they did to me. The question is, which Shark is my secret admirer?

Knox, the scarred quarterback.
Dane, his twin brother.
Or Chance, the ex who dumped me. . .

Dear Ava,
Your eyes are the color of the Caribbean Sea.
Wait. That’s stupid.
What I really mean is, you look at me and I feel something REAL.

It’s been ten months since you were here, but I can’t forget you.
I’ve missed seeing you walk down the hall.
I’ve missed you cheering at my football games.
I’ve missed the smell of your hair.

And then everything fell apart the night of the kegger.

Don’t hate me because I’m a Shark.
I just want to make you mine.
Still.

Review –

The more I read Ilsa Madden Mills, the more I love her work.

“Dear Ava” has rendered me speechless by the end. The story is about Ava and Knox. The story is about how desperate Ava is to find out the truth alongside being there for her brother, and how Knox is there with her, taking care of her.

The story begins with Ava waking up in the woods, all alone, with no memory of what had happened. That night and what had happened then is the major plot of the story.  Whatever had happened that night was the doing of one the shark members.

The story then continues ten months later with Ava coming back to Camden. She comes back to show everybody how strong she is and also because coming back would help her brother.

The more I proceeded with the story the more I thought about how mature the characters are for their age, in the sense that they deal with soo much in their lives.

Ava is an independent and strong willed girl. She is barely eighteen and with nobody to look after her. She studies, works and also looks after her brother (who has some mental issues). Knox is always there taking care of his brother and helping him deal with his problems, when he clearly has his demons to fight too.

The chemistry between Ava and Knox was from the moment they saw each other the first time, which we see in the flashbacks. There was an undeniable connection even when Ava was dating Knox’s best friend.

One thing that I loved about the book was you definitely should judge it by its cover. Seeing the cover I thought it would have many explicit scenes, but I was so wrong. They were very less and mild. Hence, you should judge a book by its cover.

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover GIFs | Tenor

Now, while reading the book I found the two main spotlights, namely, the romance between Ava and Knox and how Ava deals with the aftermath of what had happened to her.  She faces everybody headstrong and doesn’t take shit from people anymore, and in the way meets some real friends.

Let’s talk about what shook me the most – the ending. I did not see the ending coming that way, but Ilsa Madden Mills apparently finds ways to amaze me with her writing. Although I am a love seeing the couple together most of the time, I was glad the end happened the way it did (it is a happy ending if I am confusing y’all).

I loved the book and al is dynamics and I can’t wait to read more of the author’s work.

A wrong number is supposed to be just that—a wrong number.

Delete. Done.

Do not continue to text. Do not flirt.

A wrong number shouldn’t be the first person on your mind in the morning, or the last at night…and you’re definitely not supposed to talk them into buying a baby goat.

Because that would be weird.

When Zach Hastings and I get into a wrong-number mix-up, we don’t follow the rules. We keep texting and flirting, because he’s wicked funny and perfectly nerdy and a wonderful distraction.

I’m not looking for love, and Zach definitely had the wrong number.

But maybe…

Maybe he’s the right guy.

Review –

Firstly, let us all take minute to ogle over the cover of this book. OMG. And the color combinations!!!!! Dude, how the hell do they come up with such masterpieces? I mean the cover was the main reason why I actually checked this book out.

And then there was the title. If the cover was not encouragement enough then the title definitely was. “Let’s Get textual” – what an interesting title. I had a lot of theories about what this book could be about on the basis of the title. But boy was I wrong.

Delia and Zach are some characters. I could not put the damn book down because I just simply loved watching them interact. It’s been a while since I had read this book, but boy I remember every single detail about it.

I mean I still can’t stop myself from going all fangirl over it. Each time I think of this book I fell all giddy. And I can’t just stop.

giddy GIFs - Primo GIF - Latest Animated GIFs

Zach is anything you could ask for in a boy. There were many times I was fanning myself over Zach. I mean Zach is everything you name it – smart, nerdy, cute, adorable, good-looking, sarcastic, funny and the list goes on and on and on. He bought Delia a GOAT, what more can you ask?

Delia is equally entertaining to watch (read). The way she talks to Zach is soo damn cute.

Delia and Zach start texting because of a wrong number. But after they realize that they got the wrong number they don’t stop there. They keep talking, rather texting, each other all the damn time. And you got to see them talk. It was GOD DAMN HILARIOUS.  At many points I double over because of laughing.

Soon their talks turn to flirting and then, them meeting up.  But, each encounter was straight down entertaining. I just couldn’t get enough of them. And how can we forget the goat. A FREAKING GOAT. Who the hell thinks of including a goat in their books?

The best part, it is not just texts. They have connections outside phones also. Texting was the beginning of their relationship and was a major part through out. But the book was soo much more.

I’ll just say one more thing and then I’ll be gone I promise – You are going to fall in love with Jack, so good luck with that. Trust me you will need it.

Synopsis –

Penthouse Prince by Kendall Ryan

Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up.

We did everything together.

He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire…and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts.

I promised I’d wait for him…

But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul—turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.

It’s been ten years, and now he’s back and needs a favor…someone to watch his little girl. That’s right, the cocky penthouse prince and heartbreaker extraordinaire Lexington is back with an adorable two-year-old daughter. Guess who he wants to watch her?

I’ve never been able to say no to him. I might agree to be the nanny for his precious little angel, but there’s no way in hell I’m falling for her hot-as-sin daddy.

Review –

I have been a Kendall Ryan fan for as long as I remember because her books are my go to whenever I am confused about what to read next. So, you can guess how excited I was about Penthouse Prince. But, to my utter disappointed, this book just didn’t cut out for me.

I am in love with her “Hot Jocks” series, but this one just could not come to my likings.

So, the book is about Lexington and Corrigan. Lexington stays in NY City and works with the real estate and also has a two year old daughter. Corrigan is a first grade teacher and lives in North Carolina, their home town.

Lexington and Corrigan had history alright. They dated back in high school, all the while keeping it a secret from Dak (Corrigan’s brother and Lexington’s best friend). And now, he is back for good.

I thought Lexington was a very charming and mature character. You know, always there for his daughter and mother. Corrigan, to me, was rather a very simple character, invested in her own life.

They had chemistry, I agree. But, their chemistry didn’t make me swoon. It was meh for me. I couldn’t be bothered about them caring for each other. It was very fast paced and I finished it in an hour and half. I just could see the anticipation building here. And, I was actually waiting for the book to be over.

The themes in book were very nicely chosen though. It is a second chance romance, with the single dad and the brother’s best friend trope. So, if you like any of these you cold check this out.

There are many readers who actually enjoyed it very much, but I couldn’t find myself liking it, which is totally on me though.
